Innocence & Experience (Indomitable Productions 2014)
Roxana directed Innocence and Experience which is an emotional and honest piece of puppetry theatre. Coupled with voice and oboe, this production finds its roots in Vaughan-Williams' song-cycle Ten Blake Songs. Innocence and Experience provides a brief but powerful look into the lives of a couple unable to conceive and their journey through the adoption process.
"It showed how there is room in contemporary theatre for a blending of genres...And it is a credit to the piece that I left feeling that it could have been twice the length, and would have been more compelling for it." - Gwenni Hawkins/Postscript Journal
"The words and music proved an ideal choice for this piece, with one poem, “Infant Joy”, being particularly relevant. In many ways the star of the piece was the puppet child. Two wonderfully talented puppeteers manipulated this small child, bringing him to life in an entirely convincing way. Seeing the baby’s relationship with his on-stage “parents”, it was easy to forget that he was not made of flesh and blood." - Loitering In the Theatre (Online Theatre Review Blog)
