This last week has seen the launch of several new projects and although this brings me close to my optimum capacity for creative projects, my creativity is roaring and seems to know no limits.
I have officially kicked off an experimental writing project with the wonderful James Rushbrooke, Evangeline Bevan and Jessica Rhodes. This project is fuelled by a practice based research question, in order to decipher whether script-writing is better with one creative head, or three. These people are not only dear friends but also generous collaborators whom I am always excited to work with; which is possibly the only way to work in my opinion!
I am ridiculously happy to announce that myself and some brilliant people from my Masters course (Advanced Theatre Practice, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) have been accepted into SharedSpace, Prague Quadrennial in June 2015 [http://www.pq.cz/en - dates TBC]. Cumulus will be performing at the Scenography Festival where the themes are music, weather and politics and rehearsals began this week. We have a really great ensemble, full of (again) people I'm super excited to work with. There's something really wonderful that happens when everyone in a room genuinely feels like they have something to offer. The whole process becomes a gift to each other, and a gift to be part of.
As week two finishes, Central really is in full swing. And what a pendulum of a swing term two is! I've found excuses to research things as part of my practice that I've not felt like I've had the time to do before, formed a physical response to Pina Bausch and interpretive danced at the V&A today. Mainly because I could. In other unit news we've just been placed in our groups where we have a further seven weeks to devise and develop a show. No biggie.
Secret Indomitable Project is also still in my brain, and these themes and concepts actually seem to be slipping into a few of my other projects, so I can experiment with these ideas and find out what works, and what needs more thought. I'm still on structure for this, the process will be slow, but will allow for the best kind of progress when the ball starts rolling later as Guy composes. We're both happy not to rush this, we want to experiment as we go along and allow room for us to take some risks. Slow and steady.
Also, I might be helping a show get to Edinburgh this year. But that's for next time, more news to follow.
